LUSH.

And just like that

The lights were on

Like soft slow mornings

Under handmade blankets

Oscillating breeze

Kissing the skin of my thigh

Dust,

Dancing in the sun,

Sneaking through the

Cracks of my new foundation,

Joy.

This is new.

Foreign.

Welcome.

Like a mat saying,

Just come in,

You're home,

Right here in the body

You've had all along,

Safe,

Sound of

Morning doves,

With a cup of coffee.

But wait,

It gets better…

Because no matter

The weather, now

I'm solid,

Grounded.

Grass in my toes,

Fresh dew,

Rooting down in nourishing soil,

Sprouting up

Like wildflowers

Without a care,

Fearless,

Fresh,

Full, and

Free.

And while it felt

Just like that,

It wasn't.

Because to get flowers

You first need seeds,

You need to pull up weeds

And burrow,

Deep into darkness

Uncertain of when

A breath of fresh air,

Or any source of light,

Will come again.

Time, it takes

And water

Care.

The force of Life,

Depth, and despair,

The beginning of

A new beginning

That first,

Will feel like,

An end.

Magic happens,

Beneath the surface,

Reflected as,

A new bud,

Sprout, seedling,

Sprout,

In the garden,

And just like that,

Another,

Another,

Bearing leaves and stems,

Petals & pollen,

A home for honey bee kisses,

And rain.

Fruit,

Riper than ever before,

Because when we tend,

And toil,

Sow and reap,

It's just like that,

We become,

Verdant,

Lush.
