EMERGENCE

Titled for the first work in the collection, Emergence is an exploration of both the dark night of the soul, and its liberation into the light. The calm and the storm. The pressure felt in quiet moments of gloom before rising again from the depth of despair for a long, drawn-in breath, a sigh of relief. It is a call for those at a low point to free themselves from their own constraints and expectations. Painting this work did that for me, as I battled through times of depression and despondency. There is no shame in allowing yourself to feel all of the things that fall upon your heart. There is only freedom, and release.
